In this module, we have seen that:
- Escape routes should be planned in consultation with the local fire authority and with reference to the workplace fire risk assessment.
- An evacuation procedure cannot be considered reliable until it is exercised and has proved to be workable, typically through a fire drill.
- Under the relevant fire safety legislation, emergency routes and exits must be provided where necessary with adequate emergency lighting.
- All employees should be familiar with the procedures for operating the alarm.
